Welcome to Doge traditional hotel in the heart of the old Venetian port of Chania. Doge hotel is an old Venetian mansion of the 15 century in the old town of Chania, next to old Synagogue. Doge hotel is surrounded from graphic small tile roads that carry smell of passed seasons, with all sorts of small traditional shops, coffees and taverns, carry away the visitor in a nostalgic game of senses, amalgam of East and West. The archaeological and naval museum are found exactly next to the hotel. The nearest beach of Nea Chora is just 300 metres away. Souda Port is just 7 km from the hotel, and Chania Airport is reached after 17 km. Free public parking is available close by. Chania stands on the site of the ancient city of Kydonia. According to the myths, the ancient town was built by Kydon, a grandson of Minos, who was the protector of travellers: this perhaps explains the reputation of the local people for hospitality.
In our days, Chania is the second most populous city in Crete and the capital of the Prefecture of the same name. During the period of Cretan autonomy and in the first period of union with Greece was the capital of the whole island.
